The Girdle of Truth

The Girdle of Truth
The Roman belt or the balteus was a part of the Roman soldier’s amour.

It was the belt that held the scabbard which in turn carried the soldier’s sword.

Scriptures tell us to be girded in our minds with the truth. Just like the scabbard our mind is called to carry God’s word so that at anytime we can pull it out and do battle against the enemy.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11

Our mind is the carrier of God’s truth.

When God’s word is in our mind then we can have the mind of Christ.

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16

A transformed mind by the scriptures becomes a heavenly mind that thinks on those things that are above and not on the things of this world. A heavenly mind is a girded mind.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

God has promised to bring all things to our remembrance when we need it.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

A Holy Spirit controlled mind that is filled with God’s word is able to cast down imaginations and every thing that exalts itself against the word of God.

All contrary ideas and mindsets which conflict with scriptures are to be cast down. We reject them as lies.

We are then able by the sword of the Spirit to bring captive all thoughts in the mind or the balteus to obey Christ.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5

Be girded in the mind today and always with God’s truth as set out in scriptures. When the devil comes with his lies and deception you can defeat him. Standing on God’s word that is above every other word will bring the victory! Satan hates the truth and cannot stand up to it.

That is what Jesus always spoke to the devil’s lies with IT IS WRITTEN!

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1 Peter 1:13

A mind filled with God’s word cannot be shaken regardless of the group think of this world system which is inspired by the evil one!

Be girded today in your mind!

There is No One Righteous!

According to scriptures, no one is righteousness. All men ,“are under sin.” (Romans 3:9; 5:12)

What is sin? According to the Bible definition, sin is evil offensive behavior contrary to God’s nature. That is behaviour perverse, crooked, or twisted from God’s original intent.

Sin is also rebellion against God’s authority. That is breaking away from, revolting and arguing against God’s laws which leads to straying away from him and his ways as defined by scripture.

Resulting in being defiled, unclean, unjust, wicked, lawless, a wanderer, seduced and having gone astray.

That pretty much sums it up.

The Bible says that if we offend in just one point of the law of God, we have fallen short of his righteous standards and are on the naughty list. This includes all of us. (James 2:10)

Scriptures tell us that all have sinned. All fall short of God’s law and all are declared to be sinners. (Romans 3:19) (Romans 5:12).

Since we are all sinners, astray from God we need a remedy. None of us can save ourselves. We are quiet the lost cause without some one to save us from our predicament!

But “I’m not that bad,” you may say. After all I have not committed anything so horrendous as to be considered wicked. On the contrary, God considers you wicked indeed! (Romans 3:10-18)

Let me explain. If I own an expensive silk shirt and I get a stain on it that cannot be removed by natural means, as it is quiet ground in, my shirt is soiled. Now it many not be dirty and grimy as some silk shirts but nevertheless it is still not fit to dress a King! Would you offer your soiled silk shirt to the King of kings? Of course not! (Isaiah 64:6).

All have broken God’s law according to the Bible. Jesus said that if you have anger in your heart towards any person then you have sinned. Hate in God’s eyes is the same thing as murder. If you look at a person lustfully, just a look mind you, then you have committed adultery in your heart!

I would say that we all have a stain on our silk shirts!

“For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin.” (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

The standard of God’s law is absolute perfect obedience. Outside of God, no one qualifies as righteous. Now for my point. Since we are all declared sinners and headed to destruction, we really do need a remedy. (Romans 6:23).

What some people do not realized is that God’s mercy trumps over his judgment. (James 2:3) According to scriptures God so wants to save us from the consequences of sin that he sacrificially gave his life for ours!

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). (Ephesians 2:4-5)

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6)

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, being God’s heir, also deity, took on flesh and gave up his life as a sacrifice for our sins. In other words, the Son of God paid the penalty for our sins. He took our place, paid our punishment. (Romans 5:6-21)

This is good news! Only one condition. A condition? Yes, there is a condition. You see this great salvation only applies to those who receive it. Wait a minute, I thought you said God gave his life in exchange for mine? He did.

He paid a price to redeem you to himself. Not so you could continue in your sin. Oh, no that is not the exchange here. He gave his life up for you and in exchange you give your life to him. (Titus 2:14)

When you recognize your need and receive God’s great salvation by receiving the sacrifice for your sin through Jesus Christ the Savior, then God will supernaturally make you his child, having no sin accredited to your account. He will birth you into his kingdom as a brand-new babe by his Spirit.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:3, 5-6)

Then you can rejoice in God’s goodness to you! As his child the Lord will now lead you, provide for you, and bless you as you continue to walk with him even to the end of your life.

Search me O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You.” (Psalm 16:2)

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30)

His Mercy Endures Forever!

The greatest remedy for our sins, failures, bad choices, and mistakes is God’s unfailing love in which he demonstrated to us through the gift of the Savior Jesus Christ.

This love undeserved is called grace but did you know that grace and salvation stem from God’s heart of compassion in which he releases to the undeserved his mercy.

Mercy called chânan in the Hebrew means to bend in kindness to an inferior; to bestow favor upon. To have pity. Eleeō in the Greek means mercy is the divine grace of almighty God. Mercy is in effect the Lord’s compassion.

Mercy according to the Bible triumphs or is victorious over judgment. All sin is judged by God whose throne is established in justice and righteousness.

Legally speaking God’s laws when broken must be judged. That judgment always leads to death. Christians many times want to blame the devil for every thing but it is not the devil who activates God’s judgment upon us when we sin. It is in fact our own doing.

What the devil does is take advantage of a legal precedent. Sin is an open invitation for Satan to have access to a person’s life. That is why Paul said. Don’t give Satan any place!

Satan is always looking for some one to devour. He wants to kill, steal and destroy in any way he can. So what can we do against this formidable foe who is a merciless devourer that takes advantage of our weakness?

Scriptures give us the answer! Yes, it is God’s mercy! When we confess our sins and ask for help in our weakness the Lord has a legal precedent that triumphs over the law of judgment.

Symptoms of emotional and physical distress often stem from sin and are projected through Satanic attacks. When we suffer from these symptoms we need to look into our hearts and find out how we let Satan get an advantage of us. Then we need to repent.

Whether personal or generational sin has a penalty. That penalty is death. Not just eternal death but non life or dark consequences both material and spiritual. These consequences are manifest through various kinds of torments, afflictions and lack.

Mercy does not need a price for it to bring the remedy for our sins.
Mercy is bestowed freely to the contrite and broken heart of repentance from a loving God. Mercy is not given to the proud or self righteous but to the humble who recognize their weakness and desire help from an all powerful God.

James 4:6
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Mercy from the Lord comes also when we are persecuted, misunderstood, and attacked by unscrupulous people.

Let me show you from scriptures how the mercy of God can be applied to our lives.

In our distress or trouble we can call on the Lord for his mercy and he will hear us and deliver us.

When we are weak and suffering with affliction we can call on the Lord for his mercy. When we are hated and persecuted we can ask for God to pour out his mercy. When we are poor, depressed and alone we can also appeal to God for his mercy for God’s mercy endures forever.

God’s mercy will bring us forgiveness and deliverance. His mercy sent from the throne of Grace will gives us strength and empowers us to live a life that pleases him.

God’s mercy will protect us and defend us from our enemies. God’s mercy will preserve us from trouble and keep us from the power of the wicked one.

God’s mercy will make us stand and be strong in his mighty power.

God’s mercy will teach us Biblical truth and cause us to walk in his ways.

Are you in need of God’s mercy today? Call upon him in your brokenness for he will bend his ear down to hear your cry. He will come to your rescue and save you out of all your trouble for whoever calls on the name of the Lord in sincerity shall be saved!

Are You IN the Faith?

The Bible says that in the last days there will be a great falling away from the faith. (2 Thess. 2: 1-3) Many countries that once were Christian are not any more and many atheists and unbelievers today once were Christians. But were they really?

Scriptures tell us specifically to examine our hearts to see if we are really IN the faith. (2 Cor. 13:5) Are you really IN the faith or do you just believe in the faith?

Did you know that the devils believe the gospel? (James 2:19) In the same way many people who go to church and are even in the ministry today have an intellectual assent to Christianity but they are not IN the faith.

Just because you hang out in the barn with the cows does not make you a cow. You must have cow DNA and produce cow milk and other cow attributes. You can dress up like a cow, moo like a cow and hang out with the cows but still not be a cow.

The determining factor is your DNA. Were you born with cow DNA? If so then you are a cow. If not then you are an impostor or a cow wanna be and not a real cow.

It is the same with being a Christian. Are you born of God? (John 3 )Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you not only look like a Christian and act like a Christian but do you intimately know the God of the Christian, Jesus Christ ?

The Bible talks about believers who are sensual having not the Spirit of God. ( Jude 1:19) These sneak into homes and families (through many venues) to draw people after themselves. They like to have groupies. These make a loud noise, mimic many Christian attributes but rather than being in submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ they are seeking after sensual earthy things. Many times its money and fame.

A popular Christian author personality recently denied his faith publicly. He didn’t live up to his own expectations. He fell from his self made pedestal. Now he is in the marketing profession. It doesn’t take a lot of discernment to figure out that this guy may have been a believer but he was never a Christian in the first place. His fruit is evident. (Math. 7:15-20)

Now I realize some Christians believe one can loose their salvation but from my close examination of scripture I disagree. Oh, one can be an impostor Christian either deliberately or unknowingly and fall away but that is because they never knew Jesus in the first place. Notice that the Lord tells these believers who did works in his name and yet still were in their sins …I NEVER KNEW YOU. (Math. 7:21-23)

When one has God’s DNA born of his Holy Spirit then that child of God not only looks like and acts like God but does God’s works by the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in him/her. The born again Christian’s life is hid IN CHRIST and no one can pluck them out of the Father’s hand. Why? Because Jesus said MY FATHER IS GREATER THAN ALL. (John 10 :28-30 )

So here we see the key. No disappointment, trials, tribulations, temptations, failures, short comings or any other thing will move God’s born of his Holy Spirit children out of his hand of security and yes his eternity is secure.

My question to you today friends is are you really born of God? Do you know Jesus by his Holy Spirit in a personal way or do you just know about him? Do you live off of a second hand relationship with God by going to church and Bible studies or do you seek him in your prayer closet having intimacy daily with him. Do you know the Shepherd’s voice or do you just listen to his words from some one else?

If you know in your heart that you do not really know Jesus Christ personally in an intimate way I challenge you today as scriptures exhort to examine yourself. Are you really IN the faith?

If not then go to God and pray. Ask him to make you born of his Holy Spirit and baptize you with his Holy Spirit and lead you by his Holy Spirit. I guarantee you that if you are really sincere, God will make you his child born of his spiritual DNA because Jesus promised in his word that whoever comes to him he will never cast out. (John 6:37)
