Sin Shall Not Have Dominion!

Romans Chapter 6:14 tells us that sin shall not have any dominion over us.

To have dominion over means to exercise Lordship, ownership, to be ruled by.

If in fact scriptures tell us that sin shall not have dominion over us then why does sin have dominion over some Christians?

Why are some Christians living very much like they are not much different than the unsaved?

Let’s take a look at what scriptures tell us about the matter.

We find out in the next verse that sin has no dominion over Christians because we are not under law but under grace.

In other words Christians now have a new Lord. The Bible tells us that prior to salvation sin was our master. We were under the control of the devil through the sin nature. Sin is the devil’s nature. That is why Jesus pointed out to the Pharisees who were under the law that they had the devil’s nature.

Continuing on in the chapter we can find the remedy for the sin nature. Verse 15 makes it clear that just because we are under grace or favor from God through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ that does not mean we are free to continue to sin.

Verse 16 tells us that whoever we yield ourselves to obey is whose servant we are to whom we obey. If we yield to sin it is because we have sin as our master. If we yield to the Holy Spirit it is evident that God is our master.

Yielding to sin produces death. That means our fruit will be rotten, leading to decay and death. In other words our lives will produce defeat, sickness, poverty, and all kinds of ailments which may lead even to eternal death.

That is why Jesus said to test the fruit to see if someone really belongs to Jesus. If our lives are producing bad fruit then it is because of one or two things. Either there is no real salvation experience or their is ignorance of God’s word.

Vrs. 17 tells us that if we obeyed the teaching we received about salvation then we are free from the dominion of sin and are now become servants of righteousness.

Righteousness in this verse is translated as justification. Made in right standing with God. Now some Christians will stop there BUT it does in fact not end there.

This verse goes on to say that if we have been made righteous then our fruit will be unto holiness. In other words the fruit of our lives will be producing a sanctified purified life.

Now what is the key here to going from the righteous of God in Christ Jesus to holiness or godly living?

The key is in this word. YIELD. If indeed we have received Jesus Christ and are justified by his blood then we will be servants of that righteousness producing holy living.

Under the sin nature we yielded to sin. It was our master. But now we belong to another, born of his Spirit and are become servants of righteousness. If we are servants then we are not free to live any way the old flesh or earthy senses try to dictate.

We are now called to yield to God. That is to the Holy Spirit given to us at the new birth which makes his will know to us by revelation of the word of God. To yield means to give way to, adhere to. Submit to.

Verse 23 declares that the wages or earnings of obeying the sin nature will produce death but the gift of God which is salvation through Jesus Christ freely given to us produces eternal life.

Those under the dominion of sin are the slaves to sin but those under the dominion of the Holy Spirit are now become servants of righteousness unto holiness.

Yield or give way your vessel to the Holy Spirit and he will empower you to live a life that pleases God!

The Mind of Christ

The scriptures tell us to Love the Lord with all our heart but also with all our mind.

Mind in the Greek is dianoia which means the imagination, deep thought, and the understanding.

Christians that live according to the dictates of the carnal nature do so because they have not submitted their minds to the Lord. As long as the mind does not love God completely then the bodily appetites and earthly concerns will dominate the person rather than the Holy Spirit.

Those of the flesh or those walking after the carnal nature have their mind (entertain opinions and interests and have affections and cares) on the concerns of this life. (Romans 8)

But those Christians that pursue after the Spirit of God set their affections on the things of God’s kingdom or pertaining to and exceeding to the Spirit of God.

The carnal or worldly mind which is basically the human nature is in enmity with or hostile to God the Bible tells us.

The carnal mind is not in subjection to the law or principles of God nor is it possible to be. To be carnal minded according to the Bible produces death. That means produces things that have no spiritual and eternal value.

To be spiritually minded produces life and peace. Gods’s life will live in and through us.

A carnal or human thinking mind cannot please God. (1 Corinthians 2:13)

All God’s ways are foreign to the human mind. God’s ways many times go against human reasoning. Faith is to believe what is not evident. Faith trusts in supernatural provision. Supernatural ability and supernatural intervention.

God says in his word that if you want financial success then you need to give some money away. That does not register to a carnal mind. A carnal mind will beg, borrow, steal, or whatever to get a financial need met when God says, give and then I will give back to you. (2 Corinthians 9:7, Proverbs 3:9, Luke 6:30-38 Mark 12:41-44, )

The Bible says that if you want wisdom then ask God and he will give it to you. The world says to study philosophy and use secular reasoning to be wise. Use your street smarts. Use common sense.

Those in the Spirit setting their mind on things above are led of the Spirit according to Romans 8 and they have put to death or refused to let operate their flesh or earthly understanding.

God is no respecter of persons. The person who obeys God’s word will produce abundant life and the person who lives by the world’s understanding will produce that which has not spiritual value.

Carnal desires come through minding carnal things. That is from thinking from a human perspective. Thinking on things contrary to the Bible will produce, things such as fear, anxiety, unbelief, sensuality. In the end that kind of thinking will be destructive both mentally and physically and may even produce spiritual death .

Romans 12:2 says not to be conformed or patterned after the world but be transformed or changed by renewing the mind.

How can we renew our mind? By thinking according to the Bible!

Human intellect, feelings and will that are submitted to the will of God will produce life. The word of God is the will of God.

Ephesians 4:2,3 says to put off the former conversation or speach of the old person. The person you were before salvation. God tells us to let no corrupt communication or speach come out of our mouth.

Whatever comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart and whatever is in the heart comes through the mind. The mind is the filter for the heart. (Mathew 15:18)

Putting destructive ungodly things into the mind will result in becoming worldly or carnal. God tells us in his word to be renewed in the soul or spirit of the mind which is the intellect, thoughts, emotional feelings, the understanding and the will.

We are called to put on the new born again person which has been created to be righteous and Holy. (Philllipians 4:8)

Scriptures tell us openly what to think on. “Whatever is true, honest, pure , lovely, good, virtuous and praise worthy.” (Philllipians 4:8)

These are values that are God’s way of thinking as set out in scriptures.

The Bible tells us that God’s word is the remedy for the carnal mind. If we think on the word of God we will be renewed in our minds.

Jesus said, “Why do you call me Lord when you don’t do what I say? ” (Luke 6:46)

Jesus is the word incarnate. The Bible is God’s word. When we put our mind on what God says then we start acting like God says to act. We become not only a hearer of the word but a doer of the word. (James 1:22)

According to Proverbs 23:7 Whatever we think in the mind we will become.

If we think God’s word then it will go into the heart. Then we will act according to God’s word. (Proverbs 4:23)

Loving The Lord with all our mind is the key to living a life that pleases God. A life that pleases God is a life that is blessed.

So let us line up our mind to God’s way of thinking by having it renewed by his word!

1 Corinthians 2:16

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Correction in Righteousness !

It is not with a big stick that the Lord Jesus brings correction . Sometimes we are under the impression that the Lord is going to lambaste us or others who are not walking in his truth. We have a tit for tat understanding of God but this simply is not the case. God does want to bring correction in our lives but with the motive of love not with revenge. (Hebrews 12:6)

The Lord Jesus only allows harsh learning repercussions to come our way when we continue to resist him through willful disobedience but that is only a last resort. (Romans 2:8)

When we pray for others to come to the knowledge of the truth, God answers our prayers according to his ways and methods as set out in scriptures. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

We need to realize that people often behave according to their predisposed beliefs which may be incorrect. These beliefs if they cause hurt to others need to be addressed and the Lord may use us to bring a corrective word into someone’s life. We need to do this in humility because we are not always right about everything either. ( Galatians 6:1)

Our traditional ways of seeing things may not necessarily be truth and this can be difficult for us to swallow. Our pride gets bruised or our sacred idol gets a good thrashing when being challenged in our ideas. (Roman’s 11:20)

When challenging the wrong ideas of others it may not be well received at first. People often make a big fuss when truth is shared with them. From a wrong perspective people often are defending what is sacred and holy to them. They may see truth as an intruder which is walking on their preconceive ideas of what is good or right in their eyes.

The messenger of truth may get attacked. (Proverbs 21:2) God’s truth is perceived by some as a threat to ideas long held.

Unless we admit we have been wrong about certain things we will continue on in our deception and in the end we will suffer the consequences of our error. With lies comes bondage and recompense for wrong thinking which results in doing wrong actions. These wrong actions can cause damage to other people’s lives as well as our own. (Jeremiah 7:8)

When we don’t want to give up our golden calf of ideas the Lord Jesus will allow us to go through rough times. A wilderness experience is a method used by God to bring us to repentance and acknowledging of the truth. Believing lies have consequences. It can result in us being chastised which often can results in nothing in our lives seeming to work out. We are just going around in circles. (Exodus 13)

Satan is the father of lies. He knows how to wrap lies up in deceptive packages that we get duped in to thinking are truth. (John 8:44)

Unbelievers and Christians without revelation in a certain area due to Satan’s deception often think that the one who is bringing correction are actually out to get them. This may not be the case.

We need to examine the word being said to us and humble ourselves enough to see if there just might be any truth to what is being pointed out. People can often see faults in us that we are too blindsided to see. (Hosea 4:6)

At other times we may be in truth but the person opposing us may be in deception. That is why Jesus said, “Forgive them Father because they do not understand what they are doing.” (Like 23:24)

People who attack do so because their preconceived ideas of truth are being challenged. Most people will fight for what they think is true and not for a blatant lie. That is why it is important that we pray for truth to be revealed by the Holy Spirit through scriptures. (Ephesians 1:17)

Belief systems contrary to the Bible need to be rejected once truth is revealed to us. We may have been taught wrong. Scriptures taken out of context and not compared with other scriptures may only be partial truth or subjective truth. God’s word is our measuring stick for it is above every other word. This includes worldly wisemen and theological wisemen. (Psalms 138:2 2 Corinthians 1:20 Roman’s 3:4 )

Jesus through his word exposes Satan’s lies. When that old devil says, “Has God really said?” we should have a red flag go up right away.

Satan is in fact saying “God doesn’t mean really this what he really means is that. Distorting scriptures or disregarding them altogether are Satan’s major strategy of deception. (Genesis 3, Mathew 4:6)

How can we know if we are in the truth?

By examining scriptures in light of the Holy Spirit’s revelation through prayer, research of the original language content, historical context and bearing witness with our spirit. (2 Corinthians 2:23, Acts 17:11, Ephesians 1:17, James 1:5)

If our ideas go against the conscience or inner prompting of the Holy Spirit and also scriptural reference they need to be immediately rejected. (Roman’s 8:16)

Outside knowledge if it is not within biblical context should be rejected for God’s word is above man’s word. Even if taught by a popular denomination or ministry. (Roman’s 3:4 )

With a change of mind will come a change of attitude. Truth sets us free! (Roma8:31, 32)

God calls us in his word to demolish strongholds of the mind contray to his word. (2 Corinthians 10:4)

Through the Bible and through prayer the Lord Jesus will lead us into all truth. Especially if we are seeking for his truth and not just to confirm our preconceived ideas of what truth is. (John 16:13 )

Correction from God comes to us in love. In other words from a motive of wanting us to be set free through truth.

Jesus says that he is the light, the way and the truth. Scriptures tell us that the Lord gently leads us into all truth. When someone is nice about bringing us a word of correction it’s much easier to handle. A word in season even if its corrective is pleasant when it’s brought in kindness.
(2 Timothy 2 Colossians 3:13-23)

Once we get revelation by the Holy Spirit of his truth then we are better able to repent of our error. No one wants a wilderness experience and that is what ends up happening if we reject God’s word. (Deuteronomy 28, leviticus 26, Isaiah 1:19)

The only big stick that we ever get when we are wrong is the one we knock ourselves out with when we don’t listen to correction and end up finding out the truth the hard way.

The Lord Jesus wants us to take heed to correction and have all our crooked ways made straight because he loves us. (Isaiah 45:2)

Are you having a wilderness experience in your life right now? Maybe you don’t have truth about a matter. Ask the Lord Jesus to show you for he has promised to give wisdom to those who ask him. (James 1:5)

A wise man listens to advice but a fool goes on and is punished.” (Proverbs 12:15)

Faithful is He Who Has Promised!

Sometimes as Christians we can find ourselves stuck in situations that we really don’t like ! I know from personal experience that making a big fuss over it usually does not help to change the situation and in fact may even make things worse.

It is not necessary either to let yourself be a sitting duck . You don’t have to just suck it up if circumstance is causing you grief. There is nothing more dis-empowering than feeling there is no way out.

How long have you prayed for your situation to change and it hasn’t? Getting frustrated and ready to throw in the towel? Well, there is good news that you might need to hear.

None of us are guaranteed a continual life of milk and honey in this life. Jesus made it quite clear in his word that in this world we will have tribulation. However, the Lord did promise that as he overcame trials in this world so can we.

Going to the cross was a very difficult circumstance for the Lord. Jesus had to yield to unpleasantness and a lot of hardship but he endured, scriptures tell us, for the joy that lay ahead.

I am sure that Jesus really had to put his trust in the Father to bring him through his circumstance even though he felt forsaken and alone for a time. It couldn’t have been easy facing that kind of situation.

Being left in a forsaken place can cause the human mind to freak out a bit but the truth of the matter is that God is with us in our circumstance even though it doesn’t feel like it to us sometimes. When trouble comes our first inclination is to start to be afraid and maybe even feel angry.

God knows that we are only human but never should we stay in that kind of mindset. It will only end up hurting us in the end. Bitterness and anger can cause a whole heap more trouble for us than our actual problem both from a physical and spiritual perspective.

There is some really good news however, which we should keep in mind when we find ourselves in terrible circumstance. God says in his word that he will always be with us even in trouble and he has promised to never forsake us. That means he is going to walk us through our unpleasant circumstance ! Just like God the Father walked Jesus through his difficulties so he will do the same for us.

We have to wait though, be patient, never give up and keep on praying. This is the scriptural key to victory! Never giving up! Keep standing in faith! Keep praying and trusting until the victory comes! Just as Jesus was risen from the dead by the power of God so too shall we experience victory. That is if we don’t give up and if we hold on to our faith.

God had promised to make a way out of the wilderness and he always delivers on his promise. Remember that God cannot lie. It’s as impossible for God to say a fib as it is for the moon to fall out of the sky and land in your plate. He cannot lie. It’s a spiritual reality. So, knowing that God is very trustworthy we can keep trusting in him until the darkness flees and we see the light!

Never do we have to succumb to fear, defeat or depression because we know that all things are working together for our good. ALL is ALL!

Now there is nothing written in stone that our prayers will be answered exactly as we want them to be because well, God is God after all. If there is one thing that I have learned it is that I don’t know what is best for me. Left to my own devices I’d be chasing after rabbit trails indefinitely. So, it’s best that I just trust the Lord to work it all out and he will. For faithful is he that has promised!

You too can be assured that the Lord will bring you through every circumstance. He may or may not change the place you are in but one thing you can count on is that he will change you. After all his priority is what’s best for your eternal weight of glory and in the grand scheme of things that’s what matters.

Wrong Choices Can Work Out for our Good !

Bad choices have bad outcomes !

All we have to do is look at the lives of David, Jacob, Joseph and others in scripture to see that bad choices have bad out comes.

While we can always find forgiveness in Jesus from our sin but he does not erase the consequences we experience for our wrong choices.

David was called to be a ruler but he found out through temptation that he had sin in his heart. Lust, greed, and a sense of privilege.

After David sinned he suffered from his bad choices. He lost a child and ended up in many battles that might not have occurred had he been obedient to God.

Joseph was prideful and boastful. He ended up making enemies because he had a fat head. Where did that get him? In the clink! He had to be humbled in order to find out that he wasn’t such a big shot.

Jacob was a big fibber and could decieve and manipulate others. Those choices of his because of the sin in his heart ended up having him working for a bigger deciever and manipulator than himself !

Do you see a pattern here? Yeah you are right! You reap what you sow !

Spiritual principles are the same as natural principles. You throw a ball in the air and it can land right back down on your head!

There is a reason that Jesus told people he healed, “Go and sin no more lest a worst thing happen to you.”

Our sin will always end up with dire consequences. Wrong choices which usually come from a wrong heart attitude will always work out for our good IF we love God and are called according to his purpose.

When we make wrong choices the Lord reveals to us our heart attitudes that need changing by the consequences of our wrong choices. Want to know what the sin is in your heart ? Just take a look at what you reaped from those wrong choices.

When we see our sin for what it is, we can confess our sins and ask for forgiveness and restoration. BUT if we refuse to look at our sin and keep going in the same direction we will find ourselves in a continual pattern of repeated wrong choices with repeated consequential events.

Sin not dealt with just becomes a cycle of bad attitude, bad choices and bad outcomes.

Now for the dreaded word! REPENTANCE. It is not enough to see our sin and confess our sin. Unless we repent we will perish the Bible tells us.

Repeatedly sinning because of undealt with heart attitudes will have dire consequences for us. We must put our hearts on the altar and have the Lord slay the dragon which rules in our flesh.

Once we acknowledge our sin we can then ask the Lord to help us not to continue in that sin. God gives us power to say no to temptation if we call on him to help us and he can even change our stony heart and make it soft and pliable by his Holy Spirit.

Life is a learning process and it is up to us to yield to the Lord in surrender so that he can make us what he wants us to be. That’s why scriptures tell us that ALL THINGS are working together for our good!

Even our wrong choices can end up revealing to us our heart condition so that we can repent and be changed from one degree of God’s glory into another.

Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Truth Produces Faith !

God’s word produces faith because the truth sets us free!

According to 1 Thessalonians 2:13 when we receive the word of God, as truth, then the word of God, will effectually works in us who believe it.

To work effectually in the Greek is energeō which means to be ferverently and effectively active.

So in other words if we believe the scriptures as truth in our hearts then the word of God is able to produce an outcome or result with intensity and passion.

The key to this effective ferverent working of God’s word to produce a desired outcome for us is to BELIEVE.

What does it mean to believe? The word believe in this verse is translated pisteuō which means to have faith, trust and confidence in.

How do we get this faith, trust and confidence in?

Roman’s 10:17 says faith comes by HEARING And HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD.

Wait a minute ! You mean in order to believe the word of God I must hear the word of God and believe it? Yes, you see unless the word that you hear is mixed with faith it will not bring you any profit. You can be a hearer but not a doer of the word of God the Bible says.

So you must hear the word of God being proclaimed AND then you must understand what you are hearing. Holy Spirit revelation or rhema is what produces faith.

Faith comes by hearing or inclining your ear to hear and hearing or the ability to hear as receiving truth comes by the rhema or living word of God through the Holy Spirit.

Head knowledge or theological education does not produce faith. Holy Spirit revelation of God’s word is what produces faith.

So how do I get this Holy Spirit revelation of God’s word? By inclining your ear! Reading the Bible with your ear open to heaven. Listening to the Holy Spirit as he opens your understanding to his truth.

This requires frequent visits to the secret place of the most High or as Jesus put it entering into your prayer closet.

As we pray that our understanding may be enlightened and that we can know what is the hope of our calling and the riches of the inheritance of the Saints. Then the Holy Spirit will reveal to us his word and when our understanding is enlightened we will receive manna from heaven or rhema. THEN faith will come ! ( Ephesians 1:18 )

Remember that Jesus was walking with his disciples after his resurrection and they didn’t know him UNTIL he opened their understanding and expounded to them the scriptures. (Luke 24:27)

When Faith comes by receiving rehma then the word revealed to you will begin to
work effectually and fervently to produce the desired result.

What are you desiring from the Lord Jesus? Healing? Provision? Sanctification? Deliverence? Whatever it is the answer is in the Bible. Read the scriptures concerning your need and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal his truth to you about the matter by enlightening your understanding.

Then when faith comes for your need wait patiently for God to effectually work his word to manifest the desired outcome!

What is New Wine ?

It’s interesting to note that the very first miracle that Jesus did was to turn the water into wine. The significance of this is that in order for God to pour forth his new wine from earthen clay vessels (there were 6 clay pots. 6 is the number in scriptures that represent mankind) they had to be filled with water first.

Water scripturally speaking represents the word of God.

In other words one must receive the word of God and then be made alive unto God through his living word, the logos made flesh. This is the regeneration process of the Holy Spirit or the born again experience.

The old clay pot of ours after we put our trust in Jesus Christ for salvation is miraculously filled with his living water and then that living water is turned into wine! (Which in scriptures represents the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.)

When the water becomes wine it is meant to be poured out so that others may taste and see that the Lord Jesus is good!

Wine left in the clay pot vessel doesn’t bring blessings to others. Wine must be served from earthen vessels to those who are invited to the wedding banquet of the lamb.

Having tasted the old wine or worldly experience the recipients can now taste the new wine through God’s earthen vessels.

Then the recipient must decide whether they want to partake of the wine of God’s Holy Spirit. Remember it is those who eat the bread of life and partake of the divine nature who are saved and not just tasting of the powers to come.

If your earthen vessel has been filled with the water of the word and changed into the new wine of the Holy Spirit then you can be used of God as a vessel to pour forth that new wine to others.

The first miracle Jesus wants to do in your life is to turn the water that you received at the new birth into wine. Once you are filled with the Holy Spirit then (as the life of Jesus continues in the book of John), even greater works will you do because Jesus has given to you his Holy Spirit.

God wants to use your clay pot and pour out his new wine from your vessel. Scriptures exhort us to”Be filled with the Spirit!” because only vessels filled with the Holy Spirit can pour forth God’s miracles!

Ask to be filled with God’s new wine today!

John chapter 2:7-10

My Words are Spirit and They are Life

In John 3:23 Jesus said that his words are Spirit and they are life.

What Jesus was saying was that the words which he spoke into the natural realm originated from the spiritual realm and were able to quicken or make alive unto God.

Jesus as the word of God made flesh was able to perform great and mighty works by the Holy Spirit which dwelt in him. In effect, Jesus personified in human form the very life giving words of God to humanity. John 3:34

The flesh according to Jesus gives no profit. That means that the natural man cannot bring life but only death. Human ability or human resources or human words cannot give any one benefit. This is because of the sin nature and the sin which exists in the earth because of the curse. Humans can have a form of knowledge and a form of life and healing but death will ultimately in the end be the final outcome.

Jesus was trying to tell us the way to life. Not only eternal life but abundant life while we are in the earth. Unfortunately for us we have not took Jesus’ words seriously. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit that dwells in the born again person can bring life to the mortal body ,(Romans 8:11) and is able to give us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3)

Jesus wants us to have an abundant life. Now that does not mean that we will not have challenges because the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. That’s what he does. However, in the same way that Jesus overcame the devil while he was in his earthly body so can we be over-comers in this life.

Jesus would not have told us to overcome if it was an impossible feat. In fact, Jesus gave us a formula in order to live an abundant life. A pattern to follow if you will. Its in the Bible.

Jesus said that his words produced life because he spoke God’s word by the Holy Spirit. If you are born of the Holy Spirit you too can speak words by the Holy Spirit to produce life. The Bible tells us that our tongue can produce life or death and whatever we speak will be the outcome.

Oh, that’s foolish some may say. You are being too mystic. Well, think about it this way, if Paul speaking by divine inspiration said that the natural or earthy human cannot understand the things of the Spirit realm because they are spiritually discerned then how can we using human intellect or understanding really know the things of the spiritual realm?

I can tell you how! Simply by reading the Bible. Jesus said MY WORDS ARE SPIRIT And THEY ARE LIFE. Now if the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in you is it not possible that the same Spirit can produce an abundant life for you? Were you not baptized into Christ’s death so that you could be raised with him in newness of life?

Oh, but that’s the resurrection of our body he’s talking about. Yes, true but if as scriptures tell us we are to put to death our natural human bodies by the Holy Spirit so that Christ can live his life through us does that not include our mouth?

It stands to reason that the mouth is a part of the body. So if Jesus tells us that we will give account for every word uttered out of our mouths then there must be a good reason for it. Indeed there is! Our words can bring life or death according to Proverbs 18:21 .

Science actually attests to the effects of the words we speak and you may want to study up on recent findings conserning the utterance of negative and positive words.

Even the unsaved who are created in God’s image have the ability to alter their reality by the words of their mouth. How much more the Holy Spirit filled mouth of a born again Christian ?

Now for my point. Jesus said his words were from the spiritual realm and produced life. So what we need to do as Christians is get some Holy Spirit words into our mouth.

Religious Christians may not agree with Jesus in scriptures or science but it is what it is!

In John 14 and 15 Jesus tells us that when he spoke by the Holy Spirit then life occurred in the natural realm. He also said that if we spoke God’s word through prayer we could have whatever we ask for. John 14:13 Mark 11:22,25

So speaking the scriptures in prayer is speaking God’s word into the natural realm. Remember God watches over his word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:12)

Another way to speak God’s word is through praying in the Holy Spirit through tongues and interpretation as well as prophecy. If you think the gifts have past away then think again. (1 Corinthians 14:2)

No where in scriptures does it say that. Now natural men who live by natural inclinations may twist a scripture or two to fudge their doctrine but there is a whole lot about the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Bible that tell us other wise.

But even if you don’t want to go there, fair enough, you still have scriptures to speak so speak them out loud and pray them over your home and your family. Watch the change that will occur in your life!

Scriptures tell us to open our mouths and God will fill it. If his Holy Spirit lives in us we have God’s word available to us. Remember that without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6) Scriptures tell us that ver bateum, so speak the scriptures in faith and wait patiently for God to produce his life results. That’s his job. You just be obedient to do your part and the Lord will always honor his word.

Jesus said in scriptures that, ” If MY WORDS abide in you then you shall have whatever you ask for. “

Its God’s word that is Spirit which gives life and that more abundantly ! When we have God’s word in our mouths we are sure to be over-comers in this life! So, Speak the word of God only and you shall be healed and have whatever you ask for as long as you ask with pure motives! (James 4:3)

Jesus the Rock of My Salvation!

Jesus is the Rock. All who belong to him are secure in his strong fortress. In Jesus Christ the child of God can hide from the storm’s of life and be protected. Jesus the rock is a fortified place of refuge for the oppressed. A refuge from our enemies. When life tries to over whelm us then we can run to the rock that is mighty in strength.

In ancient Israel fortresses were made of Dolomite which is a sedimentary rock. Today it is called Jerusalem stone. Dolomite is resistant to erosion. It can handle heat, wind, and water without scratching or breaking. Dolomite is even acid resistant!

When the gates of hell target us then the Holy Spirit will leads us to the rock that is higher than our own strength and power. We can run to Jesus our rock of defense!

The key however, is to run to him. Don’t take matters into your own hands ! Don’t opt for deliverance by your own methods ! Rather look to the rock from which you were hewn!

Jesus is a mighty stronghold that will keep the storm from sweeping us away.

There is no power of hell that can breach the fortified rock of defense for those who put their trust in Jesus the rock. Run to the Rock and hide in him! No power on earth can remove you from him who is greater than all!

Put Down Those Carnal Weapons!

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

The Bible tells us that we are in a spiritual war. Not only with the devil but with our flesh or carnal nature. In order to fight that war we need supernatural weapons.

Ephesians 6 tells us that faith, truth, righteousness, salvation, the word of God , proclaiming the gospel and prayer are our weapons of war that are mighty through God to take down all enemy devices.

However, many times we try to use carnal weapons to fight a spiritual war. This strategy will always lead us to failure.

Let’s look at some of our carnal weapons so we will then be able to put our lives into proper perspective.

“When things get tough the tough get going.” Sounds like a plan right? Wrong. Bad plan. The Bible says that when we are weak then God can be strong on our behalf.

Recognizing our human limitations is the best way to come to a victory. When we acknowledge our inability, our weakness, our ignorance and humble ourselves before the Lord asking for his help in the situation we are always going to get the victory.

Oh, it may not come in the way that we expect because our pea brains don’t know what’s good for us but God knows. He has a plan. A master plan.

If we trust in our own directive we are sure to fall off a cliff but trusting in the Lord will bring us to the place that we need to be.

“It’s my way or the hyway.” Sounds like a plan? Yeah, I don’t think so. Self sufficiency always goes hand in hand with pride and we know where pride leads. Not a good place.

The key to conquering self will is to surrender to the Lord. But it’s too hard you may say. You don’t know my situation!

True but I do know one thing and that’s that the Lord knows your situation and he says in his word that nothing is impossible to those who put their trust in him.

So give up ! Toss aside the carnal weapon of self will and stubborn pride! Instead seek the Lord in prayer. He will always change the bad places into blessed places. God has promised and he never breaks a promise.

What about worry and fear? What carnal weapon do we use?

If you look at the Bible it clearly says fear and worry come from a lack of faith in God. Bottom line. I’m not going to soft soap it for you.

What about God’s remedy? Its reading the word to build up our faith. Seeking the Lord till he pours out his Holy Spirit power on you and delivers you. Basking in worship till you feel like a marshmallow. Sound like a plan? It is for those who choose to trust in the Lord above their circumstance or feelings.

The world will give you all kinds of carnal weapons to use in the day of trouble but God says that those who put there trust in him will never be disappointed. So who are you going to believe?

“I can handle this! ” I don’t know about you but that one never worked for me. If my hand’s in it …yeah…a flop.

God’s word tells us that if we put our plans aside and seek his wisdom to lead us then we will have success. Our ways are not God’s ways the bible says. What seems like a genius plan to us may not be to God and unless God builds our house it will end up sinking into the sand.

“I’ll show them ! “

Putting some one in their place usually ends up with me on my backside. I don’t recommend it.

Leaving vengeance to the Lord however will eventually lead us to coming out on top. Being the head is much better than being the tail.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal weapons. They don’t work. Carnal weapons will always lead to disaster. It is written. It is written.

So put down your carnal weapons ! Take up the shield of faith, pray in the Holy Spirit and stand in the power of the Lord’s might. Stand on God’s word and you will be guaranteed the victory!
