The spiritual law of life and liberty in Christ Jesus under the New Covenant supersedes the Law of Moses under the Old Covenant.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2
This means that Christians are no longer under the law of Moses but under the law of life and liberty in Christ Jesus by grace through faith.

Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit giveth life. 2 Corinthians 3:6
While the law that was given to Moses is good it cannot save.
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Psalms 19:7
The law can only produce death because no one can keep the law.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Romans 3:10-12
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. Hebrews 7:19

The law condemns and judges. The law tells us that we are guilty of breaking it. The law offers no hope. Only death.
Now we know that whatever the law says is addressed to those who are under the law, so that every mouth will be silenced and the whole world will be subject to God’s judgment. For this reason, no onewill be declared righteous in his sight by works of the law, for through the law we become aware of sin. Romans 3:19-21
The law is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He is the fulfillment of all the righteous requirements of the law.
That is why Jesus said on the cross, IT IS FINISHED! (John 19:20)

Jesus did for us what the law could not do.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Romans 8:3
Jesus condemned sin because he became sin. Jesus was the lamb of God who takes away sin.
The just (Jesus) gave his life for the unjust so that we who are born of God can be righteous in him.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit. 1 Peter 3:18-19
Those who put themselves back under the law for their justification are cursed. That is unless they repent, they will be eternally separated from God.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 3:20
Why? Because they count the blood of Jesus Christ as unworthy to save. In other words, they do not think the blood of Jesus is enough to save. They add works of the law to the New Covenant. They do this willfully, disregarding the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Does this mean that Christians are free to sin? No, it does not!
However, obedience to the law of Moses will not save because it cannot save.
Those born of God are able to walk in the Spirit so that they do not obey the sinful nature.

Only God is good and only God can keep his law. Those born of God have the law giver living inside of them. They now have power to defeat sin. This power comes from the Spirit of Life and liberty in Christ Jesus.
