My first premise in presenting my argument that the Sethite theory is the correct interpretation of Genesis 6 is that the Bible specifically warns against last-days myths.
The Greek word for myth is muthos. The ancient Greeks were notorious for their mythical stories about gods, monsters, and half-human entities.
The word used in the scriptures to warn of a form of last-days deception is Muthos.
Muthos or Mythos is where we get the English word “myth”.
Mythos is a story derived from imagination rather than facts or evidence. Mythos is in contrast to Logos.
Logos, in ancient Greek, is a factual, logical, and reasonable explanation.
Muthos on the other hand, is storytelling.
In Greek mythology, demigods were considered legendary heroes. Greek Monarchs would hold sway over their subjects by claiming to be descendants of these mythical creatures. It gave them prestige and self-importance. In this way, they could give legitimacy to their domination.
The ancient Greeks used myths to explain their worldview. They based their culture on myths. Ancient Greek Religion and politics revolved around their fascination with demigods. It was a way to explain a world they didn’t fully understand.
With the rise of the age of philosophy and reason (logos) around the late 6th century, the mythos era began to wane.
The Greek philosophers began to argue that the universe operated according to fixed physical laws rather than the whims of the gods.

The Bible warns us not to accept myths that lack a rational, evidential basis. (Logos)
The Greek word for Fable in these verses is muthos. A tale that is fiction
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. TIMOTHY 4:3,4
As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm. 1 Timothy 1:3-7
Peter says he did not make up a fable but was an eyewitness to Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. He gave evidence for his confession of faith in Jesus Christ.
For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
According to the Bible, Myths are to be rejected for Logos.
Continue to follow my series as I present evidence for my argument that the Genesis 6 narrative is best explained by the Sethite theory rather than the half-human, half-gods theory.
